| Biblical context |
Origin - English (Hebrew - Elah).
The teil tree (linden or lime-tree) is a tall evergreen tree commonly growing in Palestine. Teil trees were used as landmarks and in designating places. In winter when the teil and the oak trees shed their leaves and appear dead, their life-giving substance is still within them, and they shall bud and bloom in time. In the same way, the holy seed is the substance of the children of Israel (Isa 6:13). |
